Yeah, I know – long time, no see. That’s how blogging works, right? Onwards…
I’ve been trying to get Mediatomb to stream Ogg Vorbis and FLAC files to my PS3 system for quite some time without much luck. My media server system used to run Ubuntu 9.04 (jaunty) server edition – which features Mediatomb in version 0.11. Now, what I found out yesterday is that the 0.12 version (still unreleased, so it’s from SVN) has a fix for the PS3 audio/L16 aka PCM streaming. The catch is that the 0.12svn version can only be found in the up-and-coming Ubuntu Karmic Koala. So I took a drastic decision; s/jaunty/karmic/g in /etc/apt/sources.list, and after about 313MB worth of download, the koala was alive.
And it works. Streaming of FLAC and Ogg Vorbis now works like a charm.
